Looks like a problem with SSL...

I think I've figured it out... I disabled SSL in the DA config doc and thereafter the verify request has been successful. Looks like domino was passing SSL queries but my Active Directory server does not support SSL.

I guess my next step will be to configure SSL on the active driectory ldap server.
